Country Update Bangladesh - Covered Truck Strike

Dear Sir / Madam and all BCCs,

It is to be informed that the indefinite transport strike which started from the morning of 5th November has been called off and the movement of covered vans and trailers has resumed from 7th November.

Post-strike effect:

1. Traffic jam at closed dock as shippers rush to send cargo after lifting four-day transport strike.

2. The inbound cover van is waiting at CFS due to full occupancy.

3. To catch the ship, mostly focus on shipping containers to the port.

4. Imported containers were not released, thus delay in getting container list from MLO

5. Staffing may be delayed because off-docks were unable to pick up empty containers during the strike.

6. Closed docks, due to delays in stuffing and container placement, are completely occupied by cargo capacity.

7. Traffic congestion in container yard due to strike and no import delivery during empty movement from port.

8. Export Load No exhibition creates post-space pressure. Space requirements vs. capacity may take weeks to stabilize.

9. Ship waiting time on outer anchor may increase and proforma berthing may be affected.

While such effects affect CFS and port performance and capacity, we are doing our best to overcome the situation. We prioritize sending all cargo from the depot before the strike, to date no shut-down container update has been received, all are on board. Our focus remains on rapid post-strike recovery to minimize the impact on our customers wherever possible. For more information, please contact your account management representative.
